Day Three - Door hangers, the U and Liberty Park

This morning we were thankful to get a later start to our day.  We headed out into the community to put out door hangers, in the area that we were in yesterday.  Today all the Plant Campers finished the 15,000 door hangers that Gospel Grace had.  These door hangers have brought in many people who would otherwise not come to church and hear the Gospel.  Tomorrow we will be able to serve Gospel Hope in hanging door hangers.  Gospel Hope is a new church plant (revitalization of an older church) of Gospel Grace, which is about 20 minutes away in the community of Riverton.

At lunch we headed to The U (The University of Utah) to have lunch at the Student Union.  We then headed to a new building on campus and had two teaching sessions.  The first was in our 1 John series about Loving One Another.  Will Galkin gave us five reasons believers are to love one another.
1.  Love is the nature of God.
2.  The ability to love has been given to all believers.
3.  God has loved His own through His Son.
4.  God is seen when believers love one another.
5.  God's love has reached its goal when believers love others.
We then had small groups, where we discussed what it looks like to love others and spent some time identifying where self-love manifests in our lives.
Our second session was taught by Jonathan Albright, on Sharing Jesus Across Cultures.  At the end we were given two questions that help in Gospel conversations with others.

We left The U and headed back to Gospel Grace for a time of worship and prayer.  The students were then separated into teams and sent out into Liberty Park to find people to get into Gospel conversations.  To help start the conversations the students were given community surveys.  The students also used this time to invite those in the park to Church in the Park.  Every Wednesday, during the summer, Gospel Grace holds Church in the Park with a free meal for the community and a Gospel presentation.

We ended the day with a fun scavenger hunt throughout Salt Lake City.  Please be praying for us as we continue to serve the people of Salt Lake City and Gospel Grace.
